In late 2024, Bloom Labs worked with the research team at Press Forward New Mexico to support the research design for their upcoming news ecosystem report for the state of New Mexico. Drawing on their academic experience, we contributed modifications aligned with best practices for longitudinal surveys and the project's long-term vision. The longitudinal research practices we gathered during that design process were later made public to assist other researchers (link below).
Later in 2025, after the survey was completed across the state, Bloom Labs returned as the technology partner to design and develop the interactive map that would display the collected community data. Using our local news mapping expertise, we integrated our lessons with their branding guidelines and data structure to meet their anticipated user-experience goals paired with the full news ecosystem report.
